The
prestigious Silver Anniversary of the International Reggae and World
Music Awards (IRAWMA), by Martin’s Inter-Culture and partners, goes to
Harlem’s world famous Apollo Theater, 253 West 125 Street, in New York
City, Saturday, May 6th, commencing at 8:00 pm for general admission and
7:00pm for VIPs.
Among the star-studded lineup of entertainers are: Damian “Junior
Gong”
Marley, one of the top nominees in six categories; BeenieMan, nominated
in
five categories; Veteran Alton Ellis; Macka Diamond; Marcia Griffiths;
Machel Mantano; Gyptian and others to be announced later. The plans
for
national television syndication and global broadcasting were announced
by
Martin’s Inter-Culture president Ephraim Martin, and Khemetcom
Entertainment president Michelle K. Thomas, recently, at a Press
Conference,
on Friday at JAMPRO, 14 Trafalgar Road, Kingston, Jamaica.

for the third consecutive teamed up with Martin’s Inter-Culture and join
the list of sponsors in IRAWMA’S Silver Anniversary celebration. Other
sponsors such as: Air Jamaica, Linkup Media/Westchester Reggae Fest, CVM
Television, DJ Steves’ Tax Services Inc and Dennis Shipping are also on
board as sponsor or category sponsors.
The 25th IRAWMA list of nominees that was first released recently at a
Conference held at Jamaican Consulate in New York City was also
officially
released to the press conference here in Jamaica.
Some one hundred and fifty entertainers and music industry professionals
were nominated and selected for special awards by music industry experts
from around the globe. Among the leading nominees for 2005 are: Elephant
Man
(8), Damian Marley and Sean Paul (6 each), Beenie Man and Jah Cure (5
each),
while I Wayne, TOK, Luciano and Gyptian, each garnered four nominations.
Other reggae and world music nominees include: Sly and Robbie, Freddy
McGregor, Buju Banton, Vybz Kartel, Akon, Shabba, Wyclef Jean, Sizzla,
Macka
Diamond, Machel Mantano, Kanye West, Shaggy, Rhianna, Rapper and Actor
Will
