Jamaica -
Kinetic NRG-The Jouvert Party
HUNDREDS OF 'party
animals' were let loose last Friday at the
Students' Activity Centre, University of
Technology (UTech) as the Faculty of Health and
Applied Science and the Faculty of Engineering
and Computing together staged Kinetic NRG - the
J'ouvert Party. The party got off to an early
start, as music courtesy of DJ Slim and others
was blazing from the Digicel Musik Truck from as
early as 7:30 p.m.
The party was set to end
at 11:00 p.m, but the 'NRG' was too great and it
was obvious that an abrupt or early end would
just spoil a great staging.

Trinidad & Tobago -
Christian
Calysonian Young Kings Calypso Monarch
CHRISTIAN calypsonian Sean
Daniel, known for his popular Waving Ting,
is this year's Young Kings Calypso Monarch in
Trinidad and Tobago Carnival. He won the title
from a field of 14 contestants on Monday night
at the St James Amphitheatre for his song,
True Government, which dealt with the need
for political leaders to have God as their real
leader in governing the people's affairs. The
21st annual Young Kings competition saw second
place going to Organiser with his
hilarious
Trinbago Yankee,
while national calypso queen, Karene Asche, was
third with her pulsating Spirit of Fear.
Road March Frontrunners
The front runners in the
race to the Trinidad Soca Monarch are no new
comers to the stage. "Soca Warrior" by Maximus
Dan has had thousands chanting the various
lines. Destra Garcia is once again in the
line-up with the song "Max it Up" which of
course is supported by all the ladies. KMC this
year has 3 songs in the race "This is how
we do it"' 3-Mile and "This season is mine".
Marchel Montano is a strong contender with "Band
of the year" while others include Mr Vybe with
"Ting for de road" and Bunji Garlin with "Doi
Festival".
