Hope is a belief
in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in
one's life. Hope implies a certain amount of perseverance — i.e.
believing that a positive outcome is possible even when there is
some evidence to the contrary.
This is the
belief of producer Irvine “Smokes” Springer who delightfully
coined his new Soca riddim for St.Lucia Carnival 2007 as
The Hope Riddim.
What started out as an exclusive riddim for veteran artist
Emrand Henry turned into a fusion of various artists bring their
own flavor and styles to the fore front. The public can expect
to witness the greatness of veteran artist Nigel Nicholas,
second year artist Iylah Man and new comer Sedale.
The hope
riddim will be featured on the Soca Producers’ Choice 1.0
compilation CD schedule for release on Friday June 1st,
2007. This venture was made possible by London based Mezzo Forte
Records with assistance from Lynx Studios. Producers’ Choice 1.0
will feature productions from Irvine Springer, Patrice Regis and
Sean Noel from Mastermind Production. Distribution of the
compilation CD is slated for the USA, London, the Caribbean and
Japan.
In life we all hope
for something possible, realistic or
even unrealistic. Producer Irvine
“Smokes” Springer’s only hope for
St. Lucian music is that we can
produce one artist that can make it
internationally and represent
St.Lucia with respect and pride.
