ST. LUCIA'S PRIME MINISTER
ANNOUNCES ELECTION DATE.
It was as if you were attending a United States
Presidential Inauguration, with all its splendor, Fan Fair and of

course a massive attendance from supporters.
Speeches were heard from former Prime Minister,
and United Workers Party Leader now a member of the St. Lucia Labour
Party Dr. Vaughn Lewis. Dr. Lewis urged supporters to send their votes
his way and not towards his opponent for the Castries Central seat
Richard Frederick . He told the large gathering that Richard Frederick
did not care for their for them, because if he did he would not have
walked out of the House of Parliament with his colleagues protesting
the passing of the new Labor Code.
Richard Frederick and other opposition members
walked out of Parliament sighting that they did not have
sufficient
time to review the changes in the New Labor Code, since they only
received a copy the night before.
It was then the turn of Dr. Tennyson Joseph,
former Attaché to the Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony, who
reminded every one why the should not vote for the United Workers Party
but put the X where it will count. It was Dr. Joseph who introduced the
main man of the night Dr. Kenny Anthony current Prime Minister of St.
Lucia, but Dr. Anthony's speech was delayed by Tourism Minister Phillip
J. Pierre who got the massive crowd going with chants of the theme
song for the night "Ou Jah La Ou Pai Rete" which means "
You're Already Here It Is Best You Stay"
Then the man of the hour Dr. Kenny D. Anthony came
up to the podium and rang his big bell, sending the crowd wild with
frenzy. Dr. Anthony spoke of the party's achievements over the past
two terms and promised better days ahead with stricter penalties for
crime, more development for the youth, and a chance for every St. Lucian
to own a home.

Then the Prime minister announce that he would
instruct the Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy, to dissolve
Parliament as of today Friday 17th November, and that he would recommend
that nomination day take place on November 30th 2006.
But, it was the big announcement that every one
was waiting for from the Prime Minister which was that General
Elections in St. Lucia would be held on Monday 11th December 2006. The
prime minister thanked every one for their turn out and called for a
peaceful and free elections in St. Lucia. But, not before reminding
everyone present that their decision at the polls would determine what
direction the Country would take. He urged citizens not to vote for the
United Workers Party because this would set our country back 25 years.
Well. I guess we will just have to wait and see
how it goes...
