The nine have been chosen to battle against the
reigning King of Calypso in St. Lucia King Wally. Who will prevail?
That's left to been seen on the night of the Calypso Monarch Finals in
St. Lucia when the nine finalists try their best to un seat the reigning
King of Calypso.
The Calypso season has not been without its
controversy and surprises.... There were calls for the sacking of judges
and the pulling out of sponsors from disgruntled Calypsonians and fans,
due to the fact that for the first time in St. Lucian Calypso history a
14 year old " The Mighty Floopsy " from the Take-Over-Tent, made it to
the Semi-Finals. Well he showed them, this young man has now gone
through to the finals and in our view is one of the strong candidates
for the title. Another young Calypsonian making it to the finals in only
her second year on the Calypso stage is "Little Ginger".
A new comer to the Calypso arena but, not to the
stage is "Nintus" who brings a new type of Calypso to the St. Lucian
Calypso stage "Gospelypso". This young man sees Calypso as an avenue to
reach the many non god fearing persons in society. This is Nintus's
first time competing against the big gun's and we dare say he might just
out gun them.
It's all left to the performance of the nine
chosen and the judges who so far have had a tough time making the so
far, on target decisions. Its left to be seen .......
