St. Lucian
born Kerian Nathaniel Piper better known as
”Kerian”
is no new comer to
the music scene.
Kerian
was born July 5th, 1981. His musical background
started as a young boy in the church. He attended the
Corinth Secondary School and took music seriously thanks to
his teacher Mrs. Maraj as she gave him lots of encouragement
and support. He sang with the school choir which had an
accapella group called “Just Guys”. This group sang at
local shows such as Miss S.L.H.T.A Competition. He also
enrolled in the school orchestra where he played tenor sax
for a couple of years.
Shortly after graduating
Kerian joined Celebrity Cruises as the lead singer with the
band “Karizmer”. Over the next five years he then got
bigger and better offers with other bands on board other
cruise liners and so, gained much experience traveling and
performing as lead singer on other cruise liners e.g.
Carnival, Royal and Norwegian. His longest stint was for
three years with the band “Eclipse” on the Carnival Cruise
Liner.
He
decided to take a break from the ships and decided to
explore different parts of the world and so resided in South
Africa for six months where he sang at local
pubs with local musicians. He deems this trip was a
lifetime experience which he will never forget. He also
resided in Ontario, Canada where he also mingled and sang in
the local clubs with local bands.
He is
back in his native St. Lucia where he has been working on
his singing career as a solo artiste.
Kerian is a really
versatile artiste with many voice ranges and sings many
genres of music e.g. R&B, Reggae, Rock, Soca, etc. His
favourite genre is Soca (Groovy and Power). His beautiful
voice can be heard on his first released track “Don’t Let
Go” featuring Mr. Killa the 3Peat Soca Monarch from Grenada
and produced and written by Courtney “Curty” Louis of St.
Lucia. This song is of the “Groovy Soca” genre and hopes to
enter into the Groovy Soca Monarch 2007. His most recent
release for 2007 is “Ah Comin” is a Power Soca also produced
and written by Courtney “Curty” Louis. Kerian is a new
member of the NG Soca Tent.
