KAYO

"THE GOLDEN CHILD"

From a region in the world known for its creativity, flavor and diverse culture emerges a new era, a breath of fresh air in a game that seems, Especially now, to be trapped in commercialism. From the once overlooked Caribbean emerges Kayo; and not a moment too soon. This 18 year old phoneme slowly fell in love with music from the age of 12 and soon after felt a longing desire to make it his own. He felt that the most powerful genre of music today is in fact hip hop because it allows you the most creative flexibility.

Rap music is the only genre of music that can be fused with almost all other genres. He decided to take advantage of this creative flexibility and quickly became part of that movement. He first started to write at the age of 14 and has never put down the pen and pad since. In 2004, Kayo started recording but never released any major projects. However, several freestyles managed to leak over the internet and the buzz began to be going around about who this artist really was. The following year brought many blessings to the young artist including the founding of his production house with partner, Jano James, and the recording of his first major hit, Dear Music featuring renowned jazz group, Sisterhood. That quickly catapulted Kayo to the rank of the elite artists in his island.

Thus far, he has performed on the same stage as entertainment moguls like Ciara, Shurwayne Winchester and Isasha, just to name a few. In addition to this, he has been featured on a number of tracks with many prominent national artists and is currently blazing the airwaves with his singles ‘Not you it’s me’ and ‘Good Times’ featuring Danel Fostin. Kayo’s sound and style has been described as a twist of Jay-z, Nas, Common and Jadakiss with that spicy, Caribbean flavor in his tone.

The sky is the limit for this Caribbean artist, this lyrical behemoth. As his hunger grows, so does his already untouchable ability. The world is yet to be impacted by this genesis in music. Hold on to your seats ladies and gentlemen.

You will soon be given a glimpse into the life of Kayo…Tune in to scruffyradio to hear tracks from this raising star.
